We were looking for some fun blog hops to participate in and we ran across one titled Monday Mischief. It’s hosted by some great doggies, but all animals are invited to participate. Even with only one cat and one hamster, there’s plenty of mischief going on around here, so we thought we’d join in.
This is Nutmeg hamster’s habitat. He has a huge 6-level cage, play area, and a ball to run around the house.
Apparently he’s not satisfied with his housing arrangement and believes the play area is a jail yard. He’s learned he can attempt a jail break by using the brick wall to help him climb over his fence.

Just two more inches and I’ll be over the fence!

I can make it!
I used to be able to put Nutmeg in his play area and glance over every couple minutes to be sure he was ok. I stayed within a few steps just in case Raven came to check things out, but it was to intercept Raven. Now that Nutmeg has learned how to escape, I’ve become the jailer and sit next to his play area and grab him once he reaches the top of his fence. I have a second fence, so I a may have to set that up as an extra safety precaution. Hamster on the loose is never a good thing!

What a crazy lil hamster!
Nutmeg is too smart for his own good!
We couldn’t have a Hamster at our house. My cat bro Bert is a huge hunter and then my sister Bailie and I are too. We would most likely topple the cage and get that Hamster out somehow and that would be it. He is a cute little fellow, though.
That has to be the best hamster set up I’ve ever seen. I can’t imagine why he’d want to break out!

Wow that is one lucky hamster - what a life!
Nutmeg has one cool pad!! BOL!
All the hamsters on the loose I have had made wonderful nests in drawers but I missed them while they were away… and I didn’t have cats then!
He must be an explorer as his house is full of all the best in hamster life

Welcome to Monday Mischief! Silly hamster! Love Dolly
The grass is always greener on the other side!
I used to always want to climb out of my playpen as a puppy. Adventure is out there!
Have you told Nutmeg that most hamsters live in a tiny cage with just a wheel? Sometimes you have to just tell them like it is in the real hamster world. ☺
MOL! Nutmeg, you’re livin’ the LIFE, lookit that condo and the yard! WE don’t have it THAT good! *jealous look* (heee!)
Cute hamster!

Wow, what a setup you’ve got there, Nutmeg. As a cat, I can totally relate to getting out. No matter where you are, it is just what you must do.
Nutmeg is probably the luckiest hamster ever! I had a Houdini hamster and she always made a beeline to my sister’s room. One night she fell between the plaster and lath and was in my parents bedroom wall. My dad had to chip 2 holes in the wall before he found the right spot. Thankfully she was fine.
I admire his spunk!! MOL
Nutmeg says,” Please, please don’t electrify my fence! Just joking. You got to give him credit for persistence. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
That looks like an awesome play area, Nutmeg, now why would you want to escape that?
